It is the ideal holiday playground with the perfect setting for healthy outdoor holidays. And what better way than playing golf on some of the best courses in Europe. After a hard day's play enjoy a different Algarve sampling its delicious cuisine, food and drink - perfect for socialising and always a pleasant surprise.

Either a chauffer driven car or car hire can be arranged to whisk you in comfort from the villa to any one of six golf resorts nearby, to dinner, the beach or if you prefer, swap the car for a sumptuous dinner in the villa.

Choose your round of golf from Penina, the Championship masterpiece of Sir Henry Cotton, or the new championship course at Golfe do Morgado on the lower Monchique slopes with spectacular inland views to the hills or Alto Golf near the picturesque fishing village of Alvor, with the longest part 5 in Europe and some of the best Atlantic views of all. • Parque da Floresta - 6140 yards long, Holes 18: Par (SSS):72 (72), the most westerly of the Algarve courses created through valleys and over hills with a par 4 from the first tee and spectacular views from the fifth but keep your concentration with just 112 metres to the green nestling downhill. Dependant on the wind you can play this from a wedge to a 4 iron.
• Boa Vista Golf - 6560 yards long, Holes 18: Par (SSS): 71 (71), set on uplands just to the west of Lagos is a course that blends naturally into its terrain. Haunt of celebrities by the time you reach the third after a fairly benevolent start the design starts to show who is boss around here, a par 5 with a drive uphill.
• Palmares - 6460 yards long, Holes 18: Par (SSS): 71 (72), described as scenic and serene playing this course is a real treat with spectacular views of the bay of Lagos. The first hole, a par 4, must be one of the most stunning on the Algarve, with the tee high up looking straight out to sea. The fairway drops away steeply to a green that is tucked away out of sight to give you a difficult but possible early par.
